Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
Lefty Kris Johnson was terrific on Monday night in Durham. Unfortunately he made one costly mistake. In the second inning, Ryan Shealy hit a solo homer and that was enough as Durham nipped Pawtucket 1-0. KJ worked 6 innings, allowing a run on 3 hits. He gave way to Dustin Richardson who registered 5 strikeouts in two shutout innings.
23 year old Jeremy Hellickson got the win to improve to 7-2. Hellickson allowed a walk in the seventh to Tug Hulett, spoiling his bid for a perfect game. An inning later, Aaron Bates singled, the only PawSox hit of the night. Hellickson went 8 innings, striking out 5. Winston Abreu struck out the side in the ninth.
The series and the road trip wrap up on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Michael Bowden (1-2, 6.03) will face lefty Heath Phillips (3-4, 4.58).
