Robert Mathis To Host Celebrity Softball Game

Colts Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Mathis, and Pacers center Roy Hibbert will host the Second Annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge, benefiting Indiana Children's Wish Fund and presented by The Tony Stewart Foundation.

Fans have the opportunity to witness their favorite hometown superstars battle it out in a 5-inning celebrity softball game. Players include the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers, mascots, media personalities and other sports stars.

Tickets are ONLY $5 and are free for children ages 3 and under. Gates open at 5 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. In addition to the softball game, a special Kids Interactive Game area will be available and includes fun games, face painting, and local mascots. The evening will conclude with a firework display. Tickets to Home Team Celebrity Softball Challenge are available through Ticketmaster or can be purchased at the Victory Field box office.

Neil Walker Recalled to Pittsburgh Today

Indians utility player Neil Walker has been recalled by the Pirates to replace former Indians first baseman Steve Pearce who was placed on the 15-day DL. Walker, a Pittsburgh native, was hitting .321 with 18 doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI in 43 games for the Tribe this season. He's currently ranked in the top five in the league in hits, doubles, extra-base hits, total bases, and slugging percentage. The switch-hitting Walker made his Major League debut with the Pirates last September.

Save the Date - 2010 Indians Golf Outing

The Indians will host a golf outing on Monday, September 27, 2010 at River Glen Country Club in Fishers.

The outing is the sixth annual Mike Schneider Memorial Golf Outing and will raise money to benefit a family near to the Indianapolis Indians staff's hearts.

Mike Schneider was a member of the Indians front office staff for 17 seasons until his sudden passing at the age of 42 in August 2004. All money raised during the outing will benefit the Schneider Family Fund. For more information, call Julie Fischer at (317) 269-3542, ext. 271.
