G-Braves Drop Final Game of Series to Indy

The Lead: The Indianapolis Indians defeated the Gwinnett Braves 4-2 in the final game of their four-game series at Victory Field. Gwinnett and Indianapolis split their series at 2 games apiece. Gwinnett (20-25) now sits in a second place tie with Norfolk and 5 games behind Durham.

It Was Over When: With 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th inning with the score tied 2-2, Indians' Brandon Moss hit a 2 RBI double that sent the winning runs across the plate.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Starter Chris Resop struck out 8 batters in his 5.0 IP. Mariano Gomez (1-2) was credited with the loss, allowing 2 R/ER in an inning of work.

At the plate: Joe Thurston (1-for-2) hit his 4th home run of the season. Brandon Hicks went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Starter Daniel McCutchen pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 R/ER on 7 hits. Steven Jackson (1-0) earned his first win of the year. Jean Machi gained his 5th save of the season.

At the plate: Moss went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI.

On Deck: Gwinnett has an off day on Wednesday before traveling to take on the Louisville Bats on Thursday. No pitchers have been announced. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
