Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
For the first time since opening day, the PawSox scored in double figures, banging out 13 hits, en route to a 12-4 victory over Charlotte. Leading 1-0 after a Josh Reddick grounder that produced a run in the third, the Sox exploded for 6 runs in the sixth inning. The highlights were home runs for Daniel Nava and Dusty Brown and a 2 run double for Lars Anderson. Trailing 7-1, the Knights got on the board against Fabio Castro. Castro (1-2) earned the win. He came on in relief of Boof Bonser, who made a successful return to the mound after battling groin and shoulder issues since Spring Training. Bonser was making a ML rehab start. Castro surrendered a pair of home runs in the seventh, and the Pawtucket lead was shaved to 7-4.
In the eighth, Reddick blasted a 3 run homer to make it 10-4. And in the ninth, Pawtucket salted it away with two more runs. Lars Anderson wound up with three RBI. Reddick had 4. Nava still leads the club with 20 runs batted in. Niuman Romero and Jorge Jimenez added 2 hits apiece.
The series continues on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. Kris Johnson (1-1, 6.11) faces Dan Hudson (3-2, 6.56).
