
PawSox Erupt In Late Innings, Win 12-4

Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox scored ten runs in the eighth and ninth innings on Thursday night, rolling the Chiefs, 12-4. The win, coupled with Lehigh Valleys' loss to Louisville, puts the Sox and Iron Pigs in a virtual tie for first place in the North Division. Gwinnett won as well. The Braves are 2 games back in the Wild Card.
The game was tied at 2-2 going into the eighth. Pawtucket took a 4-2 lead on a two run single by Hector Luna. The PawSox exploded for 8 runs in the ninth, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Luis Exposito.
Felix Doubront (2-5) earned the win out of the bullpen. Starter Kyle Weiland looked sharp, allowing 2 runa in 6 innings. As a precaution, in anticipation of Hurricane Irene, the PawSox and Scranton will play a double header on Friday, beginning at 5:30. The game Sunday has been wiped off the schedule. Matt Fox will start game 2. no starter has been named for the first game.
