Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC-Dallas McPherson's grand slam was the big blow in the Knights' 10-4 victory over the Bulls on Friday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The grand slam was the second in two nights for Charlotte.

The Bulls got on the board first in the second inning on a Ray Olmedo single to right field scoring Matt Carson to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. The Knights responded quickly picking up six runs against Andy Sonnanstine (3-5) in the top of the third inning, four of which came on the grand slam from McPherson.

Justin Ruggiano hit an RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Knights lead to 8-2. The RBI was Ruggiano's 297th as a Bull moving him within two of Chris Richard's Triple-A record of 299. McPherson would add his second home run of the night off Joe Bateman.

The Bulls picked up two more runs stringing together three consecutive doubles together from Brandon Guyer, Dan Johnson, and Stephen Vogt to cut the lead to 10-4, but that's as close as the Bulls would get. Dylan Axelrod (6-1) got the win working five innings and allowing six hits and one earned run, while striking out six.

Durham will continue their five-game series against Charlotte on Saturday August 27 at 7:05 p.m. The Bulls will send Chris Archer (0-0) to the mound against the Knights Justin Cassel (0-0). The game can be heard on 620 the Buzz, and tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com.
