Lancaster Stormers News Release

Scott Patterson, the Atlantic League leader with 14 saves, has been signed by the New York Yankees, it was announced today. He has been assigned to the Trenton Thunder of the Double-A Eastern League and will join the club tomorrow in Binghamton, NY.

Patterson, who will turn 27 on Tuesday, put up incredible numbers with the Barnstormers since returning to Lancaster on Labor Day last season. The right-hander from Pittsburgh, PA converted 20 of 21 save opportunities, posted a 3-0 record and an ERA of only 0.98 (4 ER/36.2 IP). He struck out 49 batters in that stretch. Patterson also had the honor of being the starting pitcher for the first game ever played at Clipper Magazine Stadium, May 11, 2005.

"I'm ecstatic he (Patterson) is getting an opportunity to play with an affiliated club, especially in an organization like the Yankees," said Barnstormers manager Tom Herr. "His career is just taking off, and I wish him continued success as he strives to make the Major Leagues."

In another move, first baseman/outfielder Eric Crozier was added to the Barnstormers roster and will be in the lineup tonight as the designated hitter. Crozier, 27, played in 14 games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2004, batting .152 with two homers and four RBI. The Columbus, OH native was released by the Cincinnati Reds organization in late May of this season after batting .267 with three homers and 15 RBI at AA Chattanooga.

The Barnstormers open a three-game weekend series with the Atlantic City Surf at Clipper Magazine Stadium this evening. Lancaster currently owns a 4 ½ game lead over both the Surf and the Somerset Patriots in the Southern Division race.

Tickets for the Friday night game are available for purchase at the stadium box office. Lawn seats for the Saturday night game may be purchased at the stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fans wishing to purchase tickets for the Sunday matinee game may call the ticket office at 717-509-3663 or go online at www.lancasterbarnstormers.com.
