Regina Pats News Release
Week In Review:
Monday Oct. 13th, 2008 Pats 2 @ Hurricanes 3
Thanksgiving Monday saw the Pats begin a 4 game road trip in Lethbridge. In one of the more entertaining games this season, the 'Canes came out 3-2. Jordan Eberle scored both of the Pat goals on the power play, while Jeff Bosch got the start between the pipes stopping 25 of 28 Hurricane shots.
Wednesday Oct. 15th, 2008 Pats 7 @ Oil Kings 7
It was a wild one at Rexall Place in Edmonton in a back and forth battle that ended up with the last team scoring picking up the win. It was rookie forward Thomas Hricina that potted the winner with 3 minutes left in the game, his second goal of the night. Matt Delahey was fantastic, picking up 4 assists and was imposing physically. Damien Ketlo won his second straight start; the rookie goaltender was solid stopping 25 shots.
Friday Oct. 16th, 2008 Pats 2 @ Rebels 1 Shootout
Damien Ketlo was stellar in his second straight start, keeping the Pats in the game, and in the end, the blue and white escape the Enmax Centrium with a 2-1 win in a shootout. Matt Strueby scored the only Pat goal in regulation, while both Jordan Eberle and Jordan Weal scored in the shootout.
Saturday Oct. 17th, 2008 Pats 3 @ Tigers 6
The closing game of the road trip saw a very tired Pats club take one on the chin at the Medicine Hat Arena. Colten Teubert scored twice, while Brett Leffler added the other Pat goal on the power play. Six different Tigers scored on Pat starter Jeff Bosch, who was solid in the loss for the Pats.
Who's Hot:
The Pats power play has found it's stride on the road. Away from the 'Dome, the blue and white are a league best 25% with the man advantage, while at the friendly confines of the 'Dome, the power play is a league worst 5.6%.
Individually Jordan Eberle is on a 4 game point scoring streak, over the stretch, he has 3 goals and 2 assists. Damien Ketlo is one of the top goaltenders in the WHL, he is undefeated in all three of his starts, and leads the Pats in goals against average and save percentage.
Injury Front:
Mitch Czibere (knee) - 2-3 weeks
Linden Rowat (shoulder) - day to day
The Pats have lost 25 man games to injury.
On the Farm:
16 year old forward Riley Storzuk (9th rd. 2007), is currently tied for 6th in scoring in the SMAAAHL. He leads the Yorkton Harvest with 5 goals and 5 assists in 9 games. Goaltender Derek Tendler has continued his solid play with the Regina Pat Canadians, leading the SMAAAHL in wins, and is in the top five in every other goaltending category.
October is Breast cancer Awareness Month:
For the third year in a row, the Pats along with Southland Mall have teamed up to increase awareness for breast cancer, as well as raise money for the "Research to Recovery" fund for the Canadian Cancer Society. Pink hats are available at the Neutral Zone, as well as on reginapats.com, and Southland Mall. The month will be capped with the Breast Cancer Awareness night on October 24th against the Portland Winter Hawks, when Pats players will wear special jersey's that will be auctioned off at the end of the night with all of the money going towards the "Research to Recovery" fund. Over the past two seasons, the Pats have raised almost $25,000 for the fund.
