
Pats open preseason with a win

Regina, Saskatchewan - After a week of beating up on each other, the Regina Pats were finally able to hit the ice for real, taking on their Highway One rival Moose Jaw Warriors in their preseason opener. The Warriors opened the scoring early in the first as Joey Kornelson followed up on his own rebound for the 1-0 lead. The Pats were able to tie it up a little over 5 minutes later as Hampus Gustafsson went top lid over Jeff Bosch, but before the period was up, Antonin Honejsek pitched in a goal mouth scramble for a 2-1 Warrior lead.
The second saw the Pats score back to back goals starting with Brandon Davidson scoring on a point shot at the 14:36 mark and then 4 minutes later Dane Muench gave the Pats a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Carter Ashton and Ty McLean each scored in the 3rd for the Pats in the 5-2 win. Matt Hewitt and Dawson Guhle combined to stop 36 of 38 shots for the win. These two teams will meet again tomorrow night in Moose Jaw, it's a 7pm puck drop at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.
