Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - There's nothing better than having the biggest rivalry in junior hockey to get the exhibition season underway. For the first time in many years, the Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors will face each other in preseason play. The game will be played tonight at the Co-operators Centre at 7pm with the return affair tomorrow night, 7pm at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.
In The Line-up:This will be the first time 2010 draft picks Morgan Klimchuk (1st Rnd) and Ty McLean (5th Rnd) will see full Western Hockey League action. Klimchuk was outstanding over training camp with 8 goals in 4 rookie scrimmages and never missed a beat in Wednesday's Blue and White game. Ty McLean may be the surprise in camp, as he was stellar in the rookie scrimmages and fit in well with the veterans.
Prairie Mobile Communications Blue and White Game:Wednesday's Blue and White game was all Carter Ashton as he scored all four goals in a 4-2 Team Blue win. Brandon Davidson and Killian Hutt each picked up a pair of assists white Dryden Hunt and Dane Muench picked up the Team White goals in the loss.
NHL Camps:This weekend will be the first, and last, preseason action for 5 Regina Pat players as they will head off next week to their NHL camps: Carter Ashton (Tampa Bay), Jordan Weal (Los Angeles), Garrett Mitchell (Washington), Brandon Davidson (Edmonton), Ricard Blidstrand (Philadelphia).
Adding a "20":On Wednesday, the Regina Pats made a deal to pick up another 20 year old forward acquiring Colin Reddin from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a conditional 2012 WHL Bantam Draft pick. Reddin joins Cass Mappin as one of the two Pat 20 year olds, with room for one more to hit the WHL maximum of 3.
Preseason Schedule:The Pats will be back in Moose Jaw tomorrow night, and then will play the Brandon Wheat Kings in back to back preseason action. The first game goes Friday night at the Brandt Centre at 7pm and the action can be heard on 620 CKRM with Dan Plaster and Al Dumba, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:35.
Pats Gear:The Neutral Zone kiosk will be open tonight in the Co-operators Centre for the preseason game with the Warriors. Get great deals on last season's merchandise and check out some of this season's new gear.
