Game Story

The Pats got off to a hot start, but the Wheat Kings opened the scoring shorthanded as Tyler Coulter came in on a two-on-one and picked the corner. The hosts grabbed a 2-0 lead when Jayce Hawryluk pulled a toe-drag to the middle of the ice and found the back of the net on the powerplay. The second period saw the Pats get within one a pair of times. First Colby Williams ripped home a one-timer on the man advantage, but Ivan Provorov got a powerplay marker of his own to restore the two goal Brandon lead. The Pats bounced back again as Pavel Padakin tipped home a Williams point shot on a five-on-three powerplay. The Wheat Kings padded their lead again with just 2.5 seconds left as the puck bounced out in front to Macoy Erkamps who shoveled it past Daniel Wapple for a 4-2 game after forty. Kale Clague had the lone goal of a chippy third period as the Wheat Kings took the 2-0 series lead on a 5-2 win.
