
Patriots Sink Sharks 7-2

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 7-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday evening.
The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Center fielder Wayne Lydon singled to lead off the inning and first baseman Joe Burke and third baseman Jeff Nettles drew walks to load the bases. Designated hitter Josh Pressley then hit a two-run single up the middle. Nettles came home to score on a sacrifice fly by catcher Jason Belcher.
Somerset extended the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Lydon singled and advanced to third on a ground rule double by Nettles. After an intentional walk to Pressley, second baseman Matt Hagen cleared the bases with a grand slam (7) that gave the Patriots a 7-0 lead.
Camden got on the board with a solo home run by first baseman Raul Padron (9) in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 7-1.
The Riversharks added a run in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI groundout.
Patriots starter Josh Miller (12-8) allowed a run on two hits in seven innings pitched. Camden starter Derell McCall (7-8) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on five hits in two innings pitched.
The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Tuesday when the Patriots take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 pm.
