Patriots Season Ends in Shutout Loss

Camden, NJ - 2011's season finale was a quiet one for the Somerset Patriots' bats as the Camden Riversharks shut out *Sparky Lyle's *crew 10-0 to finish the Patriots year at 49-74. *

Derell McCall *took the hill for the finale and gave up three runs in the 4 th as Somerset fell behind 4-0. A six-run 7th inning for Camden bolstered their lead to double digits as *Ron Villone *and *Casey Cahill *suffered the damage. McCall (5-9) finished 5.0 innings, scattering seven hits.

Meanwhile, Zac Cline tossed 6.0 shutout innings for Camden, allowing just two hits. Joe D'Allessandro and Mike McGuire surrendered just one hit in the final three innings as the Patriots mustered just three knocks all night. *Jeff Nettles *tallied one of the hits, boosting his career Atlantic League total to 928, five shy of tying the all-time league record.

The 49-74 mark is the worst in franchise history, percentage wise, for Somerset. The Patriots missed the playoffs for the first time this year since 2006 and it is the first two year stretch in franchise history where the Patriots did not make the Atlantic League Championship Series.

Southern Maryland and Bridgeport will play a one-game playoff to determine who will battle Long Island in the Liberty Division Championship Series while York and Lancaster will square off to determine the Freedom Division representative.
