Patriots Rally for 8-6 Win Over Road Warriors

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Road Warriors 8-6 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

The Road Warriors took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Victor Gutierrez.

Somerset answered right back in the bottom half of the inning after Jeff Nettles drove an RBI double to left field to even the score at one.

RBI doubles by Alberto Cruz and Adrian Ortiz brought home two more runs for the Road Warriors and gave them a 3-1 lead.

The Road Warriors tacked on another run in the top of the fourth inning after Daniel Jordan drove a sacrifice fly to right.

The Patriots scored in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple by Norris Hopper that brought home Justin Huber and made the score 4-2.

The Road Warriors scored two more runs in the sixth on RBI doubles by Cruz and Ortiz, their second doubles of the game.

Somerset rallied to bring home five runs in the sixth highlighted by RBI hits by Pressley, Hagen, and a three run homerun by Huber (8) for a 7-6 lead.

The Patriots added another run to the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI double by Yusuf Carter for the 8-6 final.

Patriots reliever Kevin Reese (3-3) got the win after allowing two runs in two innings pitched. Christopher Mason (0-7) picked up the loss for the Road Warriors, allowing two runs in one inning of work. Ryan Houston came on to record his 11th save of the season.

The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday with a 6:05 pm game against the Road Warriors.
