Waldorf, Maryland - The Somerset Patriots (6-15, 48-43) dropped their sixth-game in a row Friday night in a 7-1 loss to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (11-9, 36-53) at Regency Furniture Stadium

The Blue Crabs broke through in the bottom of the third inning on a two-out RBI single from Edwin Garcia. Somerset tied it up in the top of the fifth on a Yovan Gonzalez RBI single to right field.

Southern Maryland responded the next half inning, plating four two-out runs to regain a 5-1 lead. Garcia, Joe Benson, and Cory Vaughn all highlighted the inning with two-out RBI base hits.

Dean Green brought in two more runs for the Blue Crabs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out RBI single to left field.

Kyle Simon (W, 3-6) went the distance for Southern Maryland, scattering just one run on five hits over a complete nine innings to earn the win. Liam O'Sullivan (L, 3-6) took the loss, allowing seven runs (three earned) over six and two-thirds innings.

The Patriots and Blue Crabs continue their series Saturday night. Southpaw David Holmberg takes the mound for Somerset against longtime Blue Crabs' righty Daryl Thompson. First pitch at Regency Furniture Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
