Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (27-21, 62-49) defeated the Road Warriors (9-39, 26-85) 2-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.
The Patriots broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Mike Fransoso.
Somerset added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Jayce Boyd.
Somerset's bullpen pitched seven scoreless innings of relief of Rick Teasley, who pitched two scoreless to start the game in his return to the mound.
Zech Zinicola (1-1) picked up the win with an inning pitched. Mariel Checo (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing a run on two hits in an inning pitched. Ryan Kelly earned his 20th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning pitched.
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, September 7th when the team returns home for a 7:05 pm game against the York Revolution. The game includes a Back-To-School Celebration featuring Fireworks, Folders (1st 1,500 Kids) and a Fortnite Event presented by the Somerset County Education Association.
