Patriots All-Star Outfielder Michael Ryan Signed By Florida Marlins

Bridgewater, NJ - The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that All-Star left fielder Michael Ryan's contract has been purchased by the Florida Marlins and will report to Triple-A in Albuquerque.

Ryan has a .282 batting average with 67 hits, 20 doubles, 15 homeruns, and 44 RBI in 65 games with the Patriots this season. Ryan was voted by fans and Atlantic League officials to be the starting left fielder for the Freedom Division at this year's Atlantic League All-Star Game, which took place on July 16 at Commerce Bank Ballpark.

Ryan has experience in the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations, including four seasons at the Major League level with Minnesota.

Ryan has seven seasons of Triple-A experience in his career. He has a .265 batting average with 69 hits, seven homeruns, and 33 RBI in 127 games through his Major League career.

Ryan has a .266 batting average with 1,220 hits, 144 homeruns, and 667 RBI in 1,247 minor league games.

Ryan is the fifth Patriot this season to have his contracted purchased by an affiliated team. He joins former teammates, Brandon Knight (New York Mets), Brett Prinz (Oakland A's), Travis Minix (Philadelphia Phillies), and Andy Van Hekken (Houston Astros) as this season's Patriots to join Major League organizations.
