
Parkinson, Claws Blank Suns in Game Two Earning Sunday Split at Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD - David Parkinson threw a complete game shutout to lead the BlueClaws to a 3-0 game two win on Sunday and a split of their double-header with Hagerstown.
Lakewood (18-10/59-39) splits their four-game series with the Suns (10-19/37-60).
Game One
Gage Canning broke a scoreless tie with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to score Phil Caulfield and give the Suns a 1-0 win in the opener.
Andrew Brown (3-2) went the whole way for Lakewood, but allowed one run and took the loss. Brigham Hill (2-3) threw six scoreless innings for the Suns to earn the win while Phil Morse threw a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out the side, to earn the save.
Each team threatened in the third inning. Lakewood got a leadoff single from Gregori Rivero, but he was thrown out trying to score from first on a double by Josh Stephen. Stephen was then stranded at third.
In the bottom of the inning, the Suns had two-on and one-out but left the two on base.
Game Two
David Parkinson threw a seven-inning, four-hit shutout as the BlueClaws threw their 20th shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Suns. The left-hander from Ole Miss lowered his ERA to 1.51 in improving to 8-1 on the season.
The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Josh Stephen, bringing home Colby Fitch and Dalton Guthrie. Jose Antequera added a SAC fly for a 3-0 lead. All three were charged to reliever Jared Johnson (0-2).
Suns starter Sam Held did not allow a hit over four scoreless innings but did not factor in the decision.
The BlueClaws have now thrown a Minor League Baseball-leading 20 shutouts on the year, two off the franchise record of 22 set just last year.
The BlueClaws come home on Monday to open a seven-game homestand and a four-game series with Greensboro. RHP Gustavo Armas (0-1) opposing Greensboro LHP Trevor Rogers (1-4).
