Pitchers' Duel Goes Fireflies Way

July 22, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Columbia, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 2-1 to the Columbia Fireflies on Sunday Afternoon.

The game was scoreless for the first six innings, as a result of the fantastic pitching by Luc Rennie for Columbia and Caleb Baragar for Augusta. Baragar went six innings, only giving up one hit while striking out six Fireflies.

Once Augusta took Baragar from the ballgame, Columbia struck for the first run in the seventh inning to take a 1-0 lead. The GreenJackets would respond in the top of the eighth inning with a Jeffry Parra solo home run. This was Parra sixth home run of the season.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Columbia put another run across to take a 2-1 lead. They would close the game out in the top of the ninth to win the finale. Columbia and Augusta tied the four-game series 2-2.

The GreenJackets will now head to Charleston for a four-game series with the RiverDogs. First pitch tomorrow is set for 7:05 pm.

After the eight game road trip, the GreenJackets will be back at SRP Park for seven game homestand! Promotions include Boy Scout night, Military Appreciation Night, and National Wing Day Festival! Get your tickets now!
