Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, Pa. - Second baseman Michael Parker has been added to the Frontier League East Division All-Star Team, the league announced today. Parker will join outfielder Chris Sidick and relief pitcher Kevin Hammons in representing the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, at the All-Star game in Southern Illinois next week.
Parker was added to the roster after an injury yesterday to Windy City's Gilberto Mejia. Parker was the next highest vote getter among middle infielders.
Parker, who is batting .254, leads the Wild Things with 26 RBI. He has collected 30 runs, 44 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 16 walks.
The 2010 Frontier League All-Star game, presented by Peoples National Bank, will take place at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill., at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. The All-Star Game is the culmination of three days of activities at Rent One Park. The action begins on July 12 with a concert featuring Craig Morgan and Rodney Atkins. July 13 features the All-Star luncheon banquet and the Home Run Derby along with a Celebrity Softball Game that evening. Among the softball participants are former St. Louis Cardinals and current Fox Sports Midwest commentators Jack Clark and Al Hrabosky, both of whom will also be speaking at the banquet.
