Panzer to Play in Peace Garden State

WORCESTER, MA – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau today announced that the club has recalled forward Jeff Panzer from the Blues American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats.

The 25 year-old Panzer was reassigned to Worcester on September 24th and is being recalled to participate in a Blues exhibition game at North Dakota's Ralph Engelstad Arena tomorrow night. The Grand Forks native led the University of North Dakota to the 2000 NCAA Championship, while finishing first in the nation in scoring with 81 points: (26/55/81). Panzer completed his collegiate career ranked third all-time on the Fighting Sioux scoring list with 228 points: (80/148/228).

The only player to appear in all 80 games for the ‘Cats last season, Panzer led the IceCats with eight game-winning goals during the 2002-2003 season. In those 80 games, he scored 22 goals, had 32 assists and added 36 penalty minutes: 80(22/32/54)36. Last year's Worcester MVP has appeared in 150 career games, notching 48 goals and 59 assists: 150(48/59/107), ranking him 10th on the ‘Cats All-Time list.

In other moves, the IceCats have released defenseman Pierre-Luc Courchesne and have invited forward Jeff Antonovich to Worcester's Training Camp.

The IceCats will open their 2003-2004 season at home on Saturday, October 11th against the Providence Bruins at 7:05 PM.
