Penguins Assign Nine Players to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Pittsburgh Penguins have reduced their training camp roster by assigning nine players to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The announcement was made today by Penguins' General Manager Craig Patrick.

Following are the nine (9) players that have been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton: Forwards Colby Armstrong, Kris Beech, Tom Kostopoulos and Eric Meloche; defensemen Patrick Boileau (BWOI-loh), David Koci, Ross Lupaschuk and Rob Scuderi; and goaltender Andy Chiodo (key-OH-doh).

With the roster moves, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins now have 38 players (24 forwards, 11 defenseman and three goaltenders) in camp. An updated training camp roster will follow this release.

The Penguins continue their preseason schedule tomorrow morning as they visit the Syracuse Crunch. Game time is set for 11 AM at the War Memorial at Oncenter.

Following today's practice at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza, head coach Michel Therrien announced the dress list (18 skaters and two goaltenders) for tomorrow's game against the Crunch.

The following is the expected lineup for the Penguins:

Goaltenders Nick Boucher (#1) Martin Brochu (#35)

The Penguins will conclude their brief four-game preseason schedule this weekend with two games against the Hershey Bears. The Penguins will host Hershey on Friday, October 3 at 7:05 p.m. and then close out the preseason slate against the Bears on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Hershey's Giant Center (7 p.m. start). There are approximately 729 tickets still available for Friday's home game.

Individual game tickets for the Penguins' 2003-04 season are now on sale and can be purchased at the Wachovia Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets.
