PRINCE GEORGE, BC- 36-seconds. The Vancouver Giants scored two goals 36-seconds apart late in second period to pull out a 4-2 win over the Prince George Cougars, Tuesday at the CN Centre.
In the second, after Josh Curtis pulled the Cougars within a goal of the Giants, it was the visitors replying immediately. Justin Sourdif scored 57-seconds after Curtis to restore the Giants two-goal lead, and then it was Bowen Byram making 4-1 for Vancouver 36-seconds later.
Davis Koch opened the scoring in the first period for Vancouver, who was their second-straight over the Cougars by a 4-2 score. Trent Miner turned aside 20-shots for the win in the Giants crease.
Curtis scored his ninth of the season 13-minutes into the second and Vladislav Mikhalchuk extended his point streak to four games, scoring a power-play goal in the third period. Taylor Gauthier suffered the loss in net, stopping 27 of 31-shots.
The Cougars losing streak stretched to 10 games and they've been held to two or less goals in each of those 10 games. With the Seattle Thunderbirds winning Tuesday in Victoria, the Cougars are now nine points out of a wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
