Pair of Home Runs Help BayBears Top Lookouts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, scored nine runs in the first four innings and held off the Chattanooga Lookouts for an 11-5 win Tuesday night at AT&T Field.

Brendon Sanger got the scoring started with a three-run homer off Sean Poppen (0-2) in the second. Sanger plated another run with a base hit in the fourth, matching his career-high with four RBIs. The BayBears (31-26) tacked on five more runs in the frame, capped off by a two-run Jose Rojas home run.

Brennon Lund finished just a home run shy of the cycle with his second straight three-hit game. Lund drove in three runs and scored twice.

Jose Rodriguez (5-5) earned a win for the fourth time in his last five starts. He allowed four Chattanooga (33-25) runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in five-plus innings. Alex Klonowski allowed one run on five hits in three innings of relief, and Matt Custred retired the side in order in the ninth.

The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Chattanooga Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Joe Gatto (0-2, 14.14 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Anthony Marzi (0-3, 6.46 ERA) for the Lookouts.
