Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) Two Edmonton Eskimo offensive linemen announced their retirements today. Bruce Beaton finishes his 12-year CFL career having played in 212 regular season games, 16 playoffs games and four Grey Cups, including two victories in 2003 and 2005. Originally drafted by B.C. (8th overall) in 1991, Bruce also played in Ottawa (1993-94), Calgary (1995) and Montreal (1996-97) before signing as a free agent with Edmonton in May of 1998. He retired after the 2003 season, but returned to the Eskimos for the 2005 season. The product of Acadia University never missed a game in his seven seasons with the Green and Gold. Bruce, his wife Michelle, daughter Layla Jane and son Samuel make their off-season home in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

Kevin Lefsrud was drafted by Montreal in the fifth round (37th overall) of the 1999 CFL Canadian College Draft and played 52 regular season games over three seasons with the Alouettes. He then signed with Edmonton in 2003 and started in 53 games in his three years in Green and Gold. Last season Lefsrud played all 18 games, both playoff games and the Grey Cup. He was the Eskimo nominee for Outstanding Lineman in both 2004 and 2005. He capped off his career with his third Grey Cup victory in 2005.
