March 5, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (March 5th) - The Central Hockey League announced today that forward Chad Painchaud has been chosen as the Easton CHL Player of the Month for February. This is the second monthly award earned by a Thunder player this season and first award for Painchaud. He will receive a special gift from Easton and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.
Painchaud returned to the Thunder line-up after missing a month and flourished. The Mississauga, Ontario native registered points in eight of the 10 games during the month and had a six-game point streak from February 9th to February 19th (5g, 8a). In five of those six games, he recorded two or more points and had three points twice. He recorded a goal and two assists on February 17th in a 4-1 victory over Allen and followed up that performance with three more points (2g, 1a) on February 19th to help Wichita earn back-to-back wins over Allen, 5-1. Painchaud tallied three more points on the following Saturday against Missouri including the game-tying goal with 2.7 seconds remaining in the second period to help force overtime. That same night, he collected his 200th career assist.
Painchaud finished the month with 17 points (7g, 10a), was +9, recorded one power play goal and five assists on the man advantage. Overall, he has 47 points (15g, 32a) in 39 games this season. Three has been the magic number for him as of late. In the last seven games when he found the score column, he recorded three points in four contests.
The seven-year pro has played in 384 professional games, racking up 139 goals, 202 assists and 341 points. Painchaud was selected in the fourth round by the Atlanta Thrashers of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. His best statistical season came back in 2009-10 where he tallied 68 points in 65 games.
Wichita heads back down to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to take on the Brahmas for the final time this season on Wednesday. The Thunder return home on March 8th and 9th for a pair of home games. Friday night is Team Photo Night and Saturday Night is Alumni Night with the Thunder Alumni playing against the Men's League All-Stars before the game.
