Arizona Overwhelms Tulsa, 7-2

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs overwhelmed the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center Tuesday night with a 7-2 win. New Sundogs addition Kevin Baker tallied two goals and two assists in his first game with Arizona.
The Sundogs grabbed the early lead 2:13 into the opening period after Zack Firlotte scored with a shot from the right wing, his first goal of the season. Ron Meyers and Chad Nehring each received the assists. Coming off the faceoff and Arizona's Kip Brennan's two minute tripping minor, Jason Morgan and Ryan Cramer received coincidental penalties, Morgan with a slashing call and Cramer for interference. Just under six minutes later, Justin Fox put the Oilers on the scoreboard when he chipped the puck past Arizona's netminder Adam Russo equalizing the game. With three minutes left in the period Ryan Cramer let off a quick wrister catching Russo off-guard, handing Tulsa their only lead of the night. With 1:47 remaining, Oilers goalie Shane Madolora received a delay of game penalty, putting the Sundogs on their second power play, giving them a 13 second man-advantage heading into the middle frame.
Entering the second period and down by a goal, the Sundogs applied the pressure and collected two goals in the second. Playing in his first game with the Sundogs, Sebastian Geoffrion scored his first goal with the team, tying the game 8:56 into the period. Arizona picked up a power play goal with 50 seconds remaining when Matt McCready lit the lamp after Tyler Fleck received a two minute charging penalty.
The third period would prove to be no match for the Oilers as Arizona tallied four goals in the final 20 minutes of play. Jason Morgan, Kevin Baker and Jeff Kyrzakos all scored in the third period extending the Sundogs lead to five goals. Kevin Baker scored two goals in his first run with the Sundogs and collected four points. Morgan and Kyrzakos each put up three points each and Firlotte and McCready each collected two points each.
Adam Russo took the win for the Sundogs making 17 saves. Arizona outshot Tulsa two-fold 40-19. Arizona was 2-7 on the power play and Tulsa was 0-5 on the power play. The teams meet again tomorrow night when they conclude their 2012-13 season series against the Oilers at the BOK Center.
