GLENDALE, AZ (March 5, 2013) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Allen Americans goaltender Aaron Dell has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending March 3, 2013. This marks the second time this season that Dell has won the weekly award (also won for the week of Dec. 11-17)
In recognition of this weekly achievement, Dell will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about all of Oakley's products, visit www.oakley.com.
After a slight slump in January and early February, the rookie goalie has regained the form that saw him win 12 of his first 16 professional decisions (12-3-1). Last week, the Airdire, Alberta native won all three starts stopping 65 of 68 shots (.956 save percentage). Dell has now won four straight decisions (two by shutout) and six of his last eight overall.
On Tuesday, the first-year netminder stopped 18 of 19 Fort Worth Brahmas shots in a 3-1 win over the Americans rivals. He then made 28 saves earning his third shutout of the season (second in the CHL) in a 4-0 win over Wichita on Friday night and then got the hat trick for the week with a 19 save effort in his team's 3-2 win over Missouri on Saturday night.
On the season, the University of North Dakota product is tops in the league with a 2.18 goals against average and his .924 save percentage to go along with his sparkling 18-6-6 record.
