Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres rallied for six runs with two outs in the sixth to come back and defeat the Tacoma Rainiers 8-4 Tuesday at Cheney Stadium. The win moves the Padres into a first place tie with the Las Vegas 51s on top of the Southern Division.
The Rainiers went ahead in the bottom of the second on back-to-back doubles from Michael Morse and Stefen Romero. Nate Tebrink followed with a two-run home run to put Tacoma up, 3-0. The Rainiers tacked on a run in the fifth on Abraham Almonte's sacrifice fly center. Jaff Decker lined a two-run double to right in the sixth to bring the Padres within two runs of Tacoma. After Decker scored on a wild pitch, Dean Anna cleared the bases with a three-run double to put the Padres ahead 6-4. Decker padded the lead in the eighth with a solo home run hitting a tree beyond the right field fence. The Padres' right fielder leads the team with a .373 average in July. Daniel Robertson homered later in the inning, his second of the season.
Jason Lane earned the win in his debut for the Tucson Padres, going 6.1 innings. The left-handed pitcher scattered five hits, three earned runs and struck out four without walking a batter. The loss went to Josh Kinney, who was charged with all six runs in the sixth. Tacoma starter Andrew Carraway tossed five no-hit innings and allowed five walks in a no decision.
