Maysonet Activated, Giansanti Assigned To Daytona

Des Moines, IA - IF Edwin Maysonet has been activated from the disabled list today and the Chicago Cubs have reassigned OF Anthony Giansanti to the Daytona Cubs in the Florida State League. Maysonet has been on Iowaʼs disabled list since June 17 with a hamstring strain.

Maysonet, who has missed 34 games during his latest stint on the disabled list, was also out from June 4-12 with the same injury. Maysonet is batting .260 (26-for-100) with six home runs and 22 RBI in 40 games with Iowa this season. Giansanti batted .345 (10-for-29) with three doubles and five RBI in 14 games with Iowa. He hit safely in eight of his first 10 games and was 3-for-4 in pinch-hit opportunities.

The Cubs play game two of a four-game series against New Orleans tonight at 7:05. RH Guillermo Moscoso (7-5, 4.15) will start for the Cubs against LH Brian Flynn (3-10, 3.65) for the Zephyrs. All of the action will be broadcast live on AM 940, and streamed live on iowacubs.com, with the pre-game show starting at 6:45.
