Padres earn 3-2 comeback win

May 7, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release

Cedric Hunter's three-run double in the seventh inning gave the Tucson Padres a 3-2 comeback win Friday at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. The Grizzlies pushed across a run in the first and another in the third, and the Padres were having trouble scoring, grounding into double plays in the fifth and sixth innings. Things changed in the seventh, when the Padres loaded the bases on hits by Anthony Contreras and Wade LeBlanc, and a walk by Luis Durango. Hunter had only one hit in his previous 12 at bats before the bases-clearing hit.

The T-Pads pitching was excellent, with LeBlanc allowing only one earned run in six innings, striking out seven. Four relievers (Aaron Poreda, Pat Neshek, Randy Flores and Luis Perdomo) combined for four shutout innings to close the game. Poreda faced three batters in a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out all three hitters swinging.

The win ended a two-game losing streak for the Padres, who now have a record of 14-15. By beating Fresno, the Padres have now gained a second place tie with the Grizzlies, four games behind first place Sacramento.
