Craig Gentry Recalled by Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas - Round Rock Express outfielder Craig Gentry was recalled by the Texas Rangers, the organization announced Saturday. Gentry takes the spot of outfielder Nelson Cruz, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list (strained right quadriceps muscle) retroactive to Wednesday.

The move also makes room on the Express roster for catcher Taylor Teagarden, who was optioned to Round Rock by the Rangers prior Friday's game. Teagarden is in the Round Rock lineup for tonight's game against Nashville.

Gentry has played 25 of 28 games with the Express this season, posting a .239 average (21-for-88) with four doubles, a triple, nine RBI, 16 runs scored and 11 walks. He also has swiped four bases in five attempts. Gentry hit safely in five of his last six games with Round Rock.

This is Gentry's third stint with the Rangers. He appeared in 11 games during the 2009 season and 20 games last year. He made is Major League debut Sept. 6, 2009, at Baltimore. He is expected to be in uniform and available for tonight's game against the New York Yankees at the Ballpark in Arlington.
