The Tucson Padres tallied five runs to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the fourth inning en route to a 16-7 victory over the I-Cubs Sunday afternoon at Principal Field.

Iowa starter Randy Wells (0-1, 13.50) ran into trouble in the fourth inning as the first five Tucson batters reached base. After issuing two walks sandwiched between a single from Jarrett Hoffpauir, Luis Martinez hit a bases-loaded RBI-single to give the Padres a 3-2 advantage. Andy Parrino followed with an RBI-single of his own before Tucson starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc grounded into a double play that scored another run. Cedric Hunter singled, stole second base and reached third on a wild pitch. Hunter then scored on a fielding error by I-Cubs' shortstop Jonathan Mota.

Tucson jumped on the board early, plating a pair of runs with two outs in the first inning. Aaron Cunningham hit a two-out single and Anthony Rizzo followed with a monster home run to center field to give the Padres an early 2-0 lead.

Iowa quickly evened the game at two, with one run in the second inning and one in the third. Marquez Smith led off the home half of the second with a double and came around to score on an RBI-groundout from Chris Robinson.

In the third, Lou Montanez got on base with a one-out single, moved to third on a single from Tyler Colvin and scored on fielder's choice groundout from Brad Snyder.

Tucson went on to score nine more runs in the game, four apiece in the eighth and ninth innings. Cedric Hunter hit a three-RBI triple in the ninth to put the Padres up 16-6.

Both Colvin and Hunter finished the game a home run shy of the cycle. Snyder extended his hitting streak to a season-high nine games, going 2-for-5 with a single, double and three RBI.
