Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres won the series finale at Principal Park in Iowa Sunday, 16-7. The Padres pounded 13 hits and took advantage of eight walks by the Cubs pitching staff. Wade LeBlanc moved his record to 4-0, allowing five runs in six innings. All eight Padres starting position players had at least one hit, including Cedric Hunter, who went 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Hunter had a single, double and triple in the rout.
The nine run victory was the most lopsided win Tucson has had this season. The previous high was when the Padres won by six runs against Colorado Springs on May 1st at Kino Stadium. Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, his 14th shot of the year to tie Wily Mo Pena of Reno for the PCL lead.
Luis Martinez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Tucson, and Jarrett Hoffpauir picked up the first two hits of his injury rehab assignment after starting 0-for-10 with the T-Pads. The Padres hit Chicago Cubs pitcher Randy Wells hard on his rehab start, scoring seven times during Wells' four innings of work.
