San Rafael Pacifics News Release
SAN RAFAEL, Calif - The Pacifics offense ran into a buzz saw on Saturday afternoon at Albert Park. Grapes starter, Dustin Crenshaw, tossed a complete game effort in the Grapes 8-1 win over San Rafael.
Pacifics shortstop Darrick Hale (3 for 2, RBI) drove in Zack Pace (2 for 1) with his third inning single - but the Pacifics (31-22) offense failed to pick up their starter, Jesse Garcia - who took the loss. Garcia (0-2) was sharp in his six innings of work, allowing two runs on eight hits. He was around the plate all game, allowing just one walk next to six strikeouts.
Crenshaw (5-4) was on his game. The 6-foot-5 right-hander kept the Pacifics off balance all night, striking out seven while only allowing one walk, and scattering five hits. He headed to the mound in the ninth to a rousing ovation by a section of Grapes fans, and retired the side in order to complete his masterpiece.
The Grapes (18-29) led 2-1 going into the eighth, and added some distance in their lead with a three-run frame.
George Ban's two-run single with the bases loaded off of Pacifics reliever Chondell Jones gave Sonoma County a 5-1 lead. They tacked on three more in the ninth to blow the game open.
The Pacifics bullpen struggled once again, the combination of Chondell Jones and Matt Durkin allowed six runs over the final three frames. Sunday afternoon marks the conclusion of the Pacifics Fan Fest presented by Sonnen BMW.
The Celebrity Softball game will be played at 12 noon - prior to the season finale between San Rafael and Sonoma County. The softball game will feature local celebrities like: retired Major League infielder and World Series champion, Aaron Miles; San Rafael native and former Major League catcher, Jerry Goff; KNBR host, Brian Murphy; Bassist for Huey Lewis & The News, Mario Cipollina; and many, many more.
The Pacifics/Grapes game will follow, first pitch is scheduled for 1:15 PST. Get your tickets here and we'll see you at the yard!
