San Angelo Colts News Release

Harlingen, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings scored six runs in the third inning, and cruised past the Colts, 11-2, Saturday night at Harlingen Field.

The WhiteWings scored all six of those runs with two outs. In all, 11 men batted that inning and seven of them recorded a hit. The second through seventh batters in the WhiteWings' lineup all scored.

Already ahead 7-0, Rio Grande Valley tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Left fielder Bryan Marquez, second baseman Roberto Rodriguez and shortstop Leugim Barroso all recorded an RBI in that inning.

Colts' starter Mark Willinsky (7-5) was pulled after the WhiteWings scored their ninth run of the game. Willinsky ended up surrendering 10 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings for the loss.

San Angelo's offense got on the board in the seventh inning. The Colts scored two runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by shortstop Danny Hernandez. It would be the only runs they scored all night, though.

WhiteWings' starter Luis Noel (7-2) earned the win, allowing both runs on four hits in six-plus innings. Noel also struck out a game-high six batters.

The win improves the WhiteWings to 43-31, while the loss drops the Colts to 37-38. San Angelo will look to avoid the series sweep in the finale Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.

San Angelo returns home on August 18 to play the Abilene Prairie Dogs. It will be the Vegas Fan Fly Away, sponsored by Midland International Airport. One fan will win two tickets to Las Vegas, courtesy of Midland International Airport. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
