SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (Aug. 10, 2012) - Brian Gump held the Sonoma County Grapes to four runs over 5 2/3 innings, scattered eight hits, struck out six and left in line for a win, but the Grapes rallied for two runs in the ninth, and Maikel Jova drove in Johnny Woodard to send the game to extra innings with a 6-6 tie at Albert Park on Friday night.

The Grapes got leadoff hits by Sam Perry and Mark Micowski in the ninth, and rallied to score two runs off reliever Julian Arballo, spoiling what would have been a the sixth victory of the season for Gump. With two outs, Woodard reached on a grounder that got past Grapes first baseman Dustin Crenshaw, and advanced to second on the play. Jova would hit a ball sharply off the short stop Perry's glove, and into centerfield to score the tying run.

It was the lefthander's last start in a Pacifics uniform, after being acquired by the St. Paul Saints of the American Association on Thursday.

Gump (5-2) worked in and out of trouble, tying his season-high for walks (4), and allowed two runs in the sixth, before being relieved by Andrew Pevsner with two on and two out. Still, Gump pitched into the sixth inning for the ninth consecutive start.

"On behalf of the entire Pacifics organization I couldn't be happier for Brian and wish him the absolute best," said Team President and General Manager Mike Shapiro. "He's an outstanding person and a very talented pitcher who deserves this opportunity to move up the ladder. We'll greatly miss his presence on this team and will be following his adventures through his blog, On the Bump with Gump."
