CarL1 Potomac Nationals

P-Nats Send Lyons to DL, Recall Engles

June 6, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release

WOODBRIDGE, Va- The Potomac Nationals announced today that infielder Dan Lyons has been placed on the disabled list with an unspecified injury. To accommodate the move, right-handed starter Terrence Engles has been recalled from the Low-A Hagerstown Suns.

This will be the second time that Lyons has found himself out of commission as he previously spent some time on the disabled list in April with hamstring problems. Lyons on the year was hitting .182 with one home run and 11 RBI in 32 games with the P-Nats. He has played stellar defense all season long, committing only three errors at second base.

Engles has pitched for Potomac before, spending time with the P-Nats in 2008. The Staten Island native made six appearances last season, not recording a win but striking out 22 batters in just 19 innings pitched. He is enjoying his most successful season to date in Hagerstown, owning a 4-2 record with a 3.42 ERA in nine starts including a seven-inning, 12-strikeout victory against Kannapolis on May 18 where he only allowed two hits and no runs. Engles is scheduled to start game two of Sunday's doubleheader with Myrtle Beach.

The P-Nats and Myrtle Beach Pelicans are set to play four games in two days from Pfitzner Stadium as rain has forced a doubleheader to be played on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's contests begin with game one at 4:35 ET.
