Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins kicked off an eight-game road trip last week, their longest stretch away from the Dunkin Donuts Center all season long. The P-Bruins took two of their three road contests to remain atop the Atlantic Division standings a third of the way into the season. With a record of 18-7-2-0 and 38 points, Providence is also second overall in the Eastern Conference and has the third best record in the AHL. This is in large part to their defense and goaltending, as their 2.44 goals allowed per game ranks third in the league.

The goaltending was on display Wednesday in their first game of the trip, as Zane McIntyre recorded his first shutout of the season during a 3-0 win in Hershey. McIntyre stopped all 28 shots he faced as the P-Bruins extended their winning streak to a season-high eight games. That streak would come to an end Friday in Syracuse, as Providence fell 5-3 to the Crunch in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals. The team rebounded Saturday as they traveled back to Hershey, as team's top line of Kenny Agostino, Jordan Szwarz and Austin Czarnik dominated the Bears in a 6-2 victory.

Anton Blidh led Providence in scoring for the week with two goals and five points, registering a point in each of their three games. Zach Senyshyn had four points on the week and scored a goal in all three contests. That three-game goal streak is tied for the longest on the team this year. The P-Bruins leading scorer for the season remains Czarnik, and he added four points last week to push his total to 25 points. Szwarz continues to lead in goals with 10 as his goal Saturday made him the first Providence player to crack double digits this season. He also leads the team with a +19 rating, good for third in the AHL. Jakub Zboril is second with a +15 rating, the highest mark of any AHL rookie.

McIntyre and Jordan Binnington each earned one win this week, but McIntyre played 151:40 with 65 saves and Binnington played just 26:40 with four saves. That is because after Binnington and the P-Bruins held a 4-0 lead midway through their game Saturday, things got testy. After a scrum between the teams, Binnington and Pheonix Copley met at center ice and dropped the gloves. It is the first time a Providence goaltender fought since November 10, 2013 when Malcolm Subban did so at the Dunk against Hartford.

The P-Bruins have two more road games before the Christmas break, and both come within the division. The team will travel to Hartford Friday for a 7:15pm faceoff with the Wolf Pack and then head to Springfield Saturday for a 7:05pm tilt with the Thunderbirds.
