BRIDGEPORT, Conn (Nov. 24, 2010) ‚¬" Providence forward Jamie Arniel scored the game-winning goal with 1:54 left in overtime as the P-Bruins defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Arena at Harbor Yard. With the win, Providence improves to 9-6-2-1. The Sound Tigers record now stands at 8-11-1-0 following their first loss after regulation.

Both teams had relatively few scoring chances in the opening period. Providence had the best scoring opportunity just past the midway part of period when Kevin Poulin made a few quick saves on rebound attempts around his crease. Jeremy Colliton nearly gave the Sound Tigers the lead while shorthanded, but his centering attempt on a 2-on-1 was deflected and caromed off the near post. Each team had just five shots in the opening frame, and the two sides went to the locker rooms scoreless after the first period.

The Sound Tigers and P-Bruins would trade power play goals in the second period. Providence was first to score on Yury Alexandrov's fifth goal of the season at the 1:13 mark. The Sound Tigers evened the mark midway through hard work and persistence with the man-advantage. Josh Bailey, Jon Sim and Rhett Rakhshani all took swings at a rebound in front of Providence goalie Michael Hutchinson, but ultimately defenseman Jon Landry swooped in from the point and banged home the rebound. It was Landry's first goal as a Sound Tiger and the game was tied 1-1 midway through the second.

The score remained that way until overtime despite the Sound Tigers 14-8 shot advantage in the third period. Poulin was fantastic in net for the third consecutive appearance, but was unable to carry his team to a shootout. With the Sound Tigers in the middle of a line change, Jamie Arniel skated into the Sound Tigers zone and ripped a shot past Poulin to win the game for Providence.

The Sound Tigers will look to rebound on Friday night when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack in their final game ever. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
