
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 6-1

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 6-1 Wednesday evening at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Pascal Pelletier, Brett Skinner, Jordan Knackstedt, Chris Collins and two goals from Martins Karsums. The 54-16-3-4 Regular Season Eastern Conference Champion P-Bruins are back in action Friday for Team Poster Night against the Manchester Monarchs at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:05 p.m.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 3:39 mark of the second period. Karsums put a shot on net, which went just wide and landed on the stick of Zach Hamill behind the net. He sent the puck to Pelletier at the right face off circle and he tallied his 37th goal of the season. Providence took a 2-0 advantage at the 14:45 mark. Hamill won the draw at the left face off circle and sent the puck to Dwayne Zinger at the left point. He passed the puck to Skinner who took a shot and scored his seventh goal of the season from just inside the blue line. The P-Bruins wrapped up the second period scoring at the 17:37 mark. Hamill caused a turnover at the Sharks blue line and fed the puck to Pelletier giving the P-Bruins a 2-on-1 advantage. Pelletier passed the puck to Karsums who was parked along the left post and Karsums netted his 18th goal of the season. Providence went into the second intermission with the 3-0 lead.
Worcester got on the scoreboard at the 5:38 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Mike Iggulden tallied his 28th goal of the season, with Derek Joslin and Taylor Dakers grabbing the assists. Providence finished off the scoring in the game with three straight power play goals. At the 16:11 mark, Skinner sent the puck from the right point down the boards to Pelletier in the right face off circle. He passed the puck to Karsums in the left face off circle as he slapped the puck into the net for his 19th goal of the season and second goal of the game. At the 17:39 mark, Jonathan Sigalet sent the puck from the left point to Matt Hendricks on the side of the net. He found Knackstedt wide open at the back door and Knackstedt netted his second goal of the season. The P-Bruins scored their final power play goal at the 18:16 mark. Wacey Rabbit passed the puck to Sigalet at the left point and he took a shot, which Collins redirected into the net for his 22nd goal of the season. Providence went on to the 6-1 victory.
Adam Courchaine stopped 19 of 20 shots for the P-Bruins, while Dakers made 25 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins went 3-for-10 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The Regular Season Eastern Conference Champion P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for Team Poster Night against the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins are also home for a Family Game Sunday versus the Lowell Devils at 4:05 p.m. Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda starting as low as $16.
