P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 4-1

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-1 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Jonathan Sigalet, Chris Collins, Martins Karsums and Matt Lashoff. The 41-12-2-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back in action Friday at the Bradley Center versus the Milwaukee Admirals at 8:00 p.m. Providence remains six points ahead of the second place Hartford Wolf Pack.
The P-Bruins took the lead at the 6:25 mark of the opening period. Nate Thompson and Matt Hendricks each put shots towards the net before getting the puck to Sigalet halfway up the left boards. He took a shot and the puck snuck between Falcons goaltender Devan Dubnyk and the post, into the net for his second goal of the season. Providence extended its lead to 2-0 at the 7:44 mark. Thompson made a steal in the Springfield zone and worked the puck to Collins behind the net. He took a shot and the puck went off Dubnyk and tricked over the goal line for his 15th goal of the season. The P-Bruins took a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
The Falcons cut the P-Bruins lead in half, while on the power play at the 13:31 mark of the second period. Rob Schremp tallied his 14th goal of the season with T.J. Kemp recording the lone assist. With just over a minute left in the period, at the 18:59 mark, the P-Bruins added a power play goal of their own. The Falcons had a chance to clear their zone, but turned the puck over at the blue line. Pascal Pelletier tipped the puck ahead to Karsums, who scored his 13th goal of the season. Providence went into the second intermission with a 3-1 lead.
In the third period, the P-Bruins added an insurance goal, while on the power play at the 8:56 mark. From behind the net, Jeff Hoggan sent the puck to Hendricks halfway up the right boards. He passed the puck to Lashoff at the blue line, who shot the puck into the net for his seventh goal of the season. Providence went on to the 4-1 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 27 of 28 shots for the P-Bruins, while Dubnyk made 37 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 2-for-8 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
