Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

The Owlz recorded their second shut out of the season with a 5-0 win over the Helena Brewers to take the series finale Friday night. The win gave the Owlz the series victory, helping them take two of three in Helena.

The Owlz struggled early offensively. In the third inning Wade Wass got on base with a lead off double but the Owlz failed to capitalize stranding Wass on third and Wendell Soto on first to end the inning.

Andrew Daniel finally got the Owlz on the board with a solo home run to left center field in the top of the sixth inning.

The Owlz offense would eventually come to life. It started with a lead off double by Michael Hermosillo who would eventually score on a groundout by Caleb Adams. Soto would then score off of a line drive to center field by Bo Way and moments later Daniel would score off of a balk by Helena pitcher J.B. Kole. Michael Strentz' base hit to left center would bring Way in to score capping off a four-run seventh inning.

The Owlz pitching kept the Brewers in check all night allowing only three hits. Austin Robichaux recorded his first win of the season while only allowing one hit over three innings. Jeremy Rhoades put together another solid outing in his start, going three innings and allowing only two hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Eduardo Paredes took the mound in the seventh and struck out five of the seven batters he faced.

The Owlz will now travel to Missoula for the first of a four game series that begins Saturday night at 7:05. You can listen live at audio.oremowlz.com.
