HOMERS DOOM GF
The Voyagers surrendered six homers Friday night as they fell 10-8 to Ogden to drop the three-game series. Great Falls took leads of 3-0 and 5-3 in the early innings, but each time were pegged back by the Raptors. Ogden's Justin Chigbogu had the biggest night, blasting three homers and driving in four. Trailing 10-5 in the eighth, the Voyagers pulled two back on a Chevy Clarke two-run homer and then got another back in the ninth on a Zach Fisher solo blast. Great Falls put the tying runs on in the ninth but could not get any closer.
OFFENSE COMING AROUND
Although Great Falls has lost two of three to start this road trip, the offense has started to break out, hitting .333 and averaging 6.3 runs per game. This comes on the heels of a seven-game homestand in which the Voyagers hit just .212 as a club and managed just 3.4 runs per contest, but saw them go 5-2 due to a 2.14 team ERA.
NOTHING FISHY ABOUT IT
Zach Fisher has started this road trip off hot for Great Falls, with three multi-hit games so far. After two three-hit efforts to start the trip, the Fontana, Calif., native went 2-4 with a homer and three RBIs last night, the second time he has hit a homer and driven in three over the last three days. Now 8-12 on the trip, Fisher has boosted his average to .337 for the year, which places him seventh among Pioneer League hitters. The former 27th round pick has now homered twice, driven in six, and scored four times in the first threee games of this seven-game road swing.
NEXT UP: IDAHO FALLS
The Voyagers continue their seven-game trip to the South Division tonight as they begin a four-game series with the Idaho Falls Chukars at Melaleuca Field. Great Falls took two out of three from the Chukars when they were at Centene Stadium last week, and swept Idaho Falls in the three-game series here in 2013.
