Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- The Chukars were two outs away from their first season sweep over one team since 2005. Jimmy Pickens delivered a two run double to change the Mustangs fortune. Billings comes from behind to stun Idaho Falls 10-9.
Friday's game featured five lead changes, with most of the action taking place in the seventh inning. The Chukars (17-14) started the frame with a 5-3 lead, but the Mustangs wiped it away with a six run frame. Argenis Aldazoro began the rally with an infield single, the first of five straight hits off of Zach Lovvorn. Two doubles and a triple were a park of the Billing ambush of six runs.
Idaho Falls regathered the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Three of the first four in the order reached base, setting the bases loaded for Wander Franco. The Pioneer League Player of the Week laced a single to center field that scored two runs. Mike Hill followed with a game tying single. The next ground ball by Kyle Pollock put the Chukars in front. The seventh inning featured 10 runs, on nine hits, and had three errors.
Nick Green (0-1) couldn't complete the save for Idaho Falls. The left-hander began the ninth inning by walking Brian O'Grady. Taylor Sparks' single put runners at the corners. Jimmy Pickens drove them both in with a double to left field.
Three Chukars had three hit games; DonAndre Clark, Wander Franco, and Michael Hill. The Billings win is their first in the seven games that the two teams will play against each other. It ends a nine game winning streak the Chukars had against the Mustangs, dating back to 2013.
Idaho Falls continues the seven game homestand by starting a four game series against the Great Falls Voyagers tomorrow.
