Through Wednesday, the Home of the Owlz had hosted 99,459 fans in 2006. That far exceeds last year's previous franchise record of 81,219.

What is more impressive is that the 2005 attendance total of 81,219 more than doubled the 2004 fan base during the franchise's final season in Provo.

"The increase in fan support is simply astounding," Co-General Manager Zachary Fraser said. "The numbers speak for themselves. We are incredibly proud to boast these totals and want to thank the community for their continuing increase in supporting the Orem Owlz."

With over 600 tickets already sold for tomorrow, the Owlz should easily break the 100,000 mark during the final home game against the Casper Rockies.

On another positive note, Owlz head groundskeeper Paul Giles was named Turf Manager of the Year in a statement issued by the Pioneer League Front Office late last week. A full time landscaper, Giles works year-round for Utah Valley State College to maintain the baseball facility.

"I'm flattered by the award," Giles said after hearing the announcement. "I'm definitely not the only one who deserves the credit, though. I have a wonderful supporting cast."

The honor is voted on by the managers and coaching staffs of each team in the league.

Giles joined the club last year when the organization moved from Provo to Orem.
