Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

The Owlz dropped the first game of the second half to the Casper Ghosts by a score of 7-1.

Geoff Parker (2-5) threw six innings, allowing just an unearned run and striking out seven. The only Owlz (0-1) run came across in the 2nd inning when Will Swanner tried to pick off Ryan Jones at 3rd, and the ball sailed into left field allowing Jones to score. Jones batted cleanup and went 2-for-4 with one run. He barely missed hitting a 3-run home run in the 9th, which would have given him a home run in all three games of the series.

Baudilio Lopez (1-5) was brilliant through three innings, allowing just one walk. Things fell apart for Lopez in the 4th, as the Venezuelan gave up five runs before giving way to Ryan Crowley.

The Ghosts (1-0) got six hits in the 4th inning, four singles and two doubles. Harold Riggins had a RBI single, Julian Yan had a RBI double and Carl Thomore had a 2-run single.

Crowley, making his second appearance since coming back from an injury, allowed just a Sam Mende solo home run in 2.2 innings of work.

The Owlz will now head to Ogden for a two-game series with the Raptors, before going back home for a six-game homestand. Monday night's game will begin at 7:05 p.m.
