Owlz Late Ninth Rally Comes up Short
August 18, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
MISSOULA- The Orem Owlz (34-21) were looking to bounce back from defeat from the day before in Great Falls, as they began a four game series between the Missoula Osprey (33-21) on Monday night. Some nights, things go great for you and some nights the ball doesn't bounce your way. On Monday night, the Owlz saw the ball bounce the wrong way.
The night started off for Orem with three straight inning until they saw their first hit on the scoreboard. Despite their first hit of the night, they left the runner stranded on base. If that wasn't bad enough, in the bottom of the inning, the Osprey scored three runs in the inning including a homerun that left the park.
Missoula then added one run in the fourth, and one more in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0 over the Owlz. The final run for the Osprey came in the fifth, but the final run of the night came for the Owlz. As Brendon Sanger hit his second home run of the Montana road trip to cut the lead to 3 in the eighth inning.
If things weren't bad enough for Orem, they then saw the sprinklers come out to add on the list of things that could of wrong, until the ninth inning surge for the Owlz.
In the ninth inning is where things got interesting for the Owlz. Orem had the bases loaded with the tying run at the place twice, but two strikeouts later saw the hopes of a comeback fall short as the Owlz fell for the second straight game.
Tomorrow night will be game two between the same two teams as the Owlz will look to get back on the winning track on the road. Action can be hear live on Audio.OremOwlz.com.
