FOREST CITY, N.C. - Jordan Betts doubled home Justin Britt in the fourth inning of Tuesday's game at McNair Field to pull Forest City to within 1 ½ games of the HiToms for the west division lead.

Forest City (11-9) broke a two all tie in the last of the fourth inning to take a one-run lead on an RBI double from Betts who was able to drive home Britt who reached earlier in the inning on a Garrett Koster error, and after four the Owls had a 3-2 lead.

The HiToms (13-8) were able to knot the game at two in the fourth as Koster hit his second home run of the week against the Owls as he launched a ball over the wall in center and tie the game.

The Owls struck first in the second inning as they got a pair of runs with two outs in the second inning against Conner Scarborough (L, 1-5). Britt singled off the plate and reached first base. Dusty Quattlebaum was due up next and he doubled to the gap in left center gap to drive home the first run of the game. The second run crossed the plate as Betts followed with the third hit of the inning a single to left to make it 2-0 Forest City after two.

Brock Hebert led off the fifth inning with a single to left and after stealing second and third, he was in scoring position with no outs, but the HiToms couldn't get him home as they squandered their best scoring chance of the night.

Brennen Huelse came on for Forest City and allowed a lead off walk to pinch hitter DeSean Anderson but the left hander was able to slam the door on the HiToms as the Owls went on to claim a 3-2 victory.

The Tommies are back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Asheboro to battle the Copperheads with first pitch set for 7:05. They make their return to Finch Field on Friday night when they welcome the Martinsville Mustangs to town for at 7:00 first pitch.
