Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced Stukes' Toques and Zipp's Mitts raised $2,100 and collected over 100 winter clothing items during the regular season.

The initiative, led by Hitmen teammates Jakob Stukel and Micheal Zipp, earmarked the funds and items for Project Warmth Society of Alberta, a local registered charity that provides assistance to the homeless and underprivileged.

"We cannot thank the fans enough for supporting this terrific cause," said Stukel. "This past winter was especially harsh and we know their generosity helped keep many people warm."

Limited edition Stukes' toques were sold at the Scotiabank Saddledome during select Hitmen home games for $15, with $5 from every sale directed to Project Warmth. The Calgary Hitmen Foundation then matched the funds raised. A donation bin was also placed on the concourse were fans dropped off winter clothing items.

"As we know Calgary has experienced some pretty tough times with a slower economy," said Project Warmth Administration Vice President Jonathan Fesik. "There were many families who made requests for winter wear and we really appreciate what the Hitmen did."

Warm Clothing Donations

Project Warmth operates year round with donations accepted at any Calgary Fire Hall. Project Warmth will then clean and prepare the warm clothing donations for distribution to those in need.
